World Cup Fever travelled across the miles as we sat in bed at 8am until lunchtime watching the opening ceremony and the first game between Bafana Bafana and Mexico. It made us home sick and proudly South African all at the same time!
Later in the day we went out and bought a South African flag which is now proudly displayed on our car. It’s amazing how many interesting conversations that instigated.
We were so excited that SA scored the first goal of the 2010 World Cup and I was hoarse for the rest of the day from shouting at the tv!
After such a lazy morning we planned a long cycle in the afternoon along a historic railway track that has been converted into a cycle path. However, this made it a very long, straight and fairly boring route with the typical Canadian scenery of forests and small ponds. Yes, I guess that sounds spoilt. We were hoping to cycle more along Lake Simcoe, but a slight detour achieved our goal and we had a lovely picnic supper on the shore.
